Week 7

LAST BLOG POST! 😱

How are we already at the end of this class?! I seriously can't believe it. Our summer is flying by... such a scary thought!

I have really enjoyed this class. Right now I'm a stay at home mom, so I always kinda look forward to Wednesday nights with some adult conversation. I should really join a book club or something haha. But seriously... you guys have been awesome! I've had several of you in other classes, but I like how the discussion posts and especially these blogs have allowed me to really learn about each of you and your journey to becoming a teacher. We're gonna rock it ladies! I'm so proud of all of us and I look forward to (hopefully) having more classes with you. And to those who are finished... CONGRATULATIONS! So awesome!

Language Arts has always been my favorite subject, so I really liked the content of this class and the direction a lot of our conversations went. I really hope to make reading and writing fun and exciting for my students and I feel like I learned a lot of valuable strategies in this class to do just that. I especially liked the 100 questions assignment. I really think that helped me narrow in on exactly what I want my students to be thinking about during my lessons. I definitely think that is something I will do in the future.

To summarize....

  1. This class went by extremely fast.
  2. I loved having all of you in class and really enjoyed our conversations!
  3. This class gave me so many ideas for my Language Arts teacher toolbox.
  4. We're on our way to becoming amazing teachers!
Questions: What was your favorite moment of this class? What are you doing during the rest of your summer!?

  1. Love you picture! For the rest of my summer I want to spend sometime with my family and swim a lot. I will be spending most of my time getting ready for student teaching this fall. I hope it goes well. I loved this class and the unit as a whole helped me a lot, I think the 100 questions helped me the most though. You will be a wonderful teacher someday soon! Good luck with everything.

  2. Your pictures says it all! I can not believe this is the last blog we will make for this class. I have enjoyed this class and love the idea of blogging versus discussions. What an awesome idea! This class was very informative and I love all of the sharing everyone was so willing to do. My favorite moment of class was turning in the 10 lesson plans. So much work went into them. I am taking one more class this summer and it is a math class which is my favorite subject so it should make for an interesting time. Enjoy your summer and maybe we will have some classes together in the future. It is always great to have someone there that you recognize. I will miss those that graduate but am so excited for them too!

  3. Paige, I am with you! These past weeks went by so quickly! I did also like having our own groups for blogs. It made it less stressful and I felt like I learned something from each one of you guys. I liked the unit because it is something I am used to do in other classes, but I always did the unit and 100 questions together. So when we did the questions first, I had a little trouble planning. I had to add some questions during my unit after submitting the 100 questions. For the rest of my summer, I am finishing up the move back home and settling in. I will start my job in August as a reading interventionist teacher at an elementary. Even though I wanted to have my own students/classroom, I am happy in starting my teaching career and I know I will be using material from this class! :)

    1. Sandy, I so agree, that 100 questions first thing was not good. If I get to do this class again, I will change that.

  4. Paige, I have too many favorite moments to list them all! But the ones that stick out the most are when we first start class and she would ask a question and we each answered it, as a starter for class. That was a great way to get to know each of us a little better and feel more like an in-seat class. Another moment is when I realized you and are on the exact same page and had very similar lesson plans for first grade! That was crazy and awesome! Great minds think alike! For the rest of the summer I will be taking a math class and my normal mom duties of chasing my 21-month old around. It is a rewarding job!
